The Last Potter in Ladakh
Day 1-2: Students arrive in the spectacular Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh, Ladakh. We will travel to our orientation site in Phyang, a short half hour away by taxi. Here, we will begin to acclimatise, learn more about the unique history and culture of the region, and to get to know each other and our new surroundings.

Day 4-8: To learn anything thoroughly, one has to start with the basics, and that’s exactly where we’ll begin. From our stellar teachers, we will learn how to use local materials to make clay. We’ll learn how to make traditional Ladakhi pottery, but also play around and make creations of our own. We’ll then learn the process of drying and firing, so we can have complete pieces to take home.
While students are not in pottery class, the group will go on short day hikes, spend time with their homestay families and learn more about Ladakhi culture and customs.
